smooth & fold; Alternative design theories

'The Smooth and the Striated' by Deleuze and Guatarri: define 'smooth' space that has many qualities that fit the new living conditions (heterogeneous, nomad, intensive, rhizomatic, haptic), in reality they 'co-exist' in a mixture.
Greg Lynn describes the advantages architecture can gain from 'smooth' and 'folded' systems:
develope sensibility to the envirinments and needs, and allow continuous co-existance of complex diferences, while maitainig their identity.

Previous Work: theoty and strategy
> criticize modernism rigidity and reductive simplicity.
> experiment with the relationship between media and architecture
> influence
media by 'space' / and deform space with 'media'
> undermine (but leave intact) modern space by using media >> 'retroactive smoothing'
